"The enjoyment of the journey comes by learning to love myself despite my imperfections, limitations, and vulnerabilities" - Marge Schneider

I am dealing with the idea of turning 70 in just a few months. That seems like such a milestone, and there is no denying that at 70 you are in the midst of old age. I got an interesting book titled 70 things to do when you turn 70, and one of the essays in it said the first thing to do is plan on making it to 80.

I will do that, and right now am trying my darndest to appreciate what I have in life, and not dwell on or worry about what I lack. (A person I respect very much told me that is the key to happiness). I am thrilled to still be dancing the night away on Saturday Nights, to not just the slow and mid speed songs, but also the fastest ones. (partner dancing, never line dancing) There are all kinds of mental and physical health benefits to dancing, as well as the peace and renewal that comes from the power of touch. The bottom line is dancing generates joy and makes a person feel like they are living their best life.

Of course it helps that I live just a 10 minute drive from one of the best dance halls in the country (The Grizzly Rose). And I love that I can do swing and blues dancing at the Mercury and Turnverein here in Denver. Some of the best dancers go to those places, and it is an honor to get to dance with them.

Also, a study reported in Science Daily concluded that dancing can have anti-aging effects on the brain.
