30 March ~2014

To get right when feeling low I have learned to head up where the air is thin and nights can be brutal cold. I usually find my worries and cares don't seem like much compared to the thousands of stars at night, sight of a bobcat or lynx leaving through the trees at dawn, gritting against the cold while I get the campfire going. and the band of first light above the timberline, that imprints deep upon one's heart. I often come down thinking nothing but lucky to live where I do, to have the strength and health that I have, and most of all to share my life with these wonderful Border Collies.

I feel with certainty that everything follows from place, that place makes us who we are, that landscape carves out a certain character and community, and that ultimately the places in which we choose to live govern the unfolding of our lives.
