1 March ~2014

Each month I search out a good story to tell to 23 classrooms, 300 kids. My favorites have been Call of the Wild and Island of the Blue Dolphins. This month I told the first half of the 2014 Newberry winner - Flora and Ulysses. In two months I am planning to tell some fairy tales from Japan. Stories with animals or place are easier for me to tell, because I can put some of myself in them. It can be work, but is very rewarding.

Go to spellbinders.org for my information on volunteer storytelling.

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”

—G. K. Chesterton
